Drexel University Online, a subsidiary of the Philadelphia technical university, has begun providing special-rate distance learning services to Montgomery Hospital Medical Center, a 210-bed hospital serving the state’s central Montgomery County.

Winner of the US Distance Learning Association’s 2006 21st Century Best Practice Award for Distance Learning, Drexel will offer online bachelor’s, master’s and certification courses to the more than 1,000 employees of MHMC, which treat approximately 10,000 inpatients and more than 100,000 outpatients.

MHMC staff will receive discounted access to online courses that will cover areas such as nursing and health professions, clinical research, public health, information science, business, computer science, communications, and computing technology.

Drexel, which is accredited by the Middle States Association for Colleges and Secondary Schools and its curricula hold the highest accreditations from their respective accrediting bodies such as AACSB (Business), NLN and CCNE (Nursing), and ALA (Information Science), labels the relationship with MHMC a partnership.

Drexel has been expanding its partner network for the past four years. Through a partnership with Drexel, participating corporations, health systems, and professional associations across the US are able to offer their employees and members benefits such as special tuition rates and career development opportunities, as well as the chance to earn a degree, all with the flexibility working professionals need.

"A well-educated workforce is a competitive advantage for health systems today," said Dr. Kenneth Hartman, academic director of Drexel University Online. "Organizations have been selecting Drexel as their preferred online education provider because they know that our programs reflect the same high standards as those on-campus, but offer the convenience busy professionals desire. We look forward to this new venture with Montgomery Hospital Medical Center and in assisting them in meeting the educational needs of their employees."

Employees of the Medical Center will receive a 10-25% reduction on the regular on-campus tuition rate at Drexel for online programs; 25% off of all online programs offered by the College of Nursing and Health Professions and 10% off for all other available online programs. Employees may also be eligible for tuition assistance for job-related programs through Montgomery Hospital's benefits policy and deferred tuition payment plans through Drexel. As an added benefit, immediate family members of employees are also eligible for similar tuition reductions for Drexel's online programs.

Delivered fully online, Drexel's programs are designed for working professionals seeking to earn a degree or additional certification. The online programs follow the same academic standards and lead to the same quality degrees as on-campus - with no commuting or career interruption.

All Drexel's programs are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Learn why you should choose Drexel to study online.
