The Ph.D. in Health Services online degree program prepares you to serve at the forefront of the health services in the private and public sectors. In the program, you will examine the theoretical foundations of knowledge, the practical application of theory and the public health care system.
Graduate Degree Specializations
General
The General Program offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of health services. You’ll study several issues of health and human behavior, including health and healing, health and professional behavior, health and social behavior, and health and lifespan issues.
Community Health Promotion and Education
The Community Health Promotion and Education specialization focuses on developing strategies that improve the health of communities and their individual members. Included in this specialization are the study of multiple issues of health and human behavior, including health and healing, health and professional behavior, health and social behavior, and health and life span issues. You may focus in the areas of community health, environmental and occupational health, school health, and worksite health, or you can design your own area of study.
Health Management and Policy
This specialization prepares professionals to administer health and medical care services within the “integrated delivery systems” model. This specialization also prepares professionals to become administrators of health profession programs (e.g., nursing, public health, and allied health) in higher education institutions. Graduates are prepared to provide administrative leadership and to conduct research to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the services they administer.
